Jhibaro Rodríguez (*1971)
Jhibaro Rodríguez (Maracay, Venezuela, 1971) is a Venezuelan guitarist and composer of Wuayú origin (Aboriginal ethnic group from Zulia state, Venezuela), graduated as a Guitar Performing Professor in 1992 at the Aragua State Music Conservatory.
In 1998 he obtained the Magister Artium in Guitar with honors and award of distinction (Würdigungspreis) at the Vienna University of Music. He got the 2nd prize in the “Antonio Lauro” (1990) and “Alirio Díaz” (2002) contests in Venezuela, and 1st prize in Volos, Greece (2003). In 2006 he was a judge at the “Michele Pittaluga” International Guitar Competition, Alessandria, Italy.
At present, he is a Tutor Professor at the National Experimental University of Arts UNEARTE, in Maracay, specializing in Popular-Traditional Instrumental Execution and conducting doctoral studies in Southern Arts and Cultures. Also, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education for the Arts (2021) at the “Simón Rodríguez” National Experimental University, at the Lifelong Learning Experimentation Center (CEPAP).
