About Us

The publishing house Ut Orpheus Edizioni was founded in 1993 by Roberto De Caro, Antonello Lombardi and Valeria Tarsetti. Its catalogue currently numbers more than 2000 books and scores of early, classical and contemporary music.

Ut Orpheus is the exclusive publisher for the project entitled Scuola napoletana, conceived by Maestro Riccardo Muti in his capacity as conductor of the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini and produced in collaboration with Ravenna Festival and Salzburg Festival.

Among other high profile projects in progress at Ut Orpheus are the critical editions of the Opera Omnia of both Luigi Boccherini and Muzio Clementi (since 2006 and 2008 bearing the hallmark of Italian National Editions), the critical edition of the complete works of Francesco Geminiani (series founded by Christopher Hogwood) and the complete Urtext edition of Claudio Monteverdi's Madrigals.

A large part of the catalogue is devoted to contemporary music and music education; for the latter, in particular a number of manuals for historical instruments (harpsichord, viola da gamba, lute, theorbo) and series catering for those taking their first steps on an instrument (Fare Musica, 10 vols - Ciao Chitarra!!!, 15 vols).

The books sector features important works of musicology together with a number of monographs dealing with composers, performers, instruments, singing and music teaching. Ut Orpheus is also the publisher of the prestigious musicological quarterly Ad Parnassum. A Journal of Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-Century Instrumental Music.

Ut Orpheus carries out an intensive activity of promotion in Italy and abroad, participating with a stand of its own in some of the major music fairs (Frankfurt (Musikmesse), Cremona (Mondomusica), Paris, Vienna and other prominent venues).
