Pianist and composer, Fabio Soragna completed his musical studies in Milan with Bruno Bettinelli, then in Belgium and France with R. Clemencic, D. Vellard, M. Peres.
In 1975 he founded the “Alia Musica” ensemble, a research and experimentation group on medieval music, with which he performed concerts.
His interest in the theater subsequently led him to attend courses on actor training and improvisation. In the dual capacity of actor-musician he made his debut in 1983 in Paris, at the Theater de la Huchette, in Cabaret Dada directed by Jean Gillibert. He also participated in L’Oeil by A. Nouss, directed by Jean-Marie Binoche.
Together with the actress and director Maddalena Trani he founded the association “Il carro di Tespi” in 1995. In 1997 he conceived and created the “Festival del Ticino: musica, teatro, sperimentazione, ricerca” of which he was artistic director until 2005.
In 2002 he created, together with Marco Ferrari, the group “Le Barricate Misteriose”, realizing an unusual proposal: identifying and highlighting the influences of cultured music in popular music. In the wake of this work, with the flutist Giuliano Prada, he embarks on the path of pure improvisation, free from jazz styles, making a synthesis between modal and tonal sensitivity.
He performed in 2006 in Turin for “Settembre Musica” (today “MITO”), at the “MantovaMusicaFestival” and in 2008 in New York.
