The Consort Magazine (Summer 2019)
The music is clearly printed with no inconvenient page turns. Facsimile reproductions of the introductory pages from each of the books are interspersed with the music. These are large enough to be legible and provide players with an opportunity to read the instructions from the original sources. Overall the book is a valuable resource for classical guitarists with a serious interest in the sixteenth-century repertoire. (Monica Hall)

... Cherici’s collection here gives a broad cross-section of the compositions by all the vihuela masters – Milán, Narváez, Mudarra, Valderrábano, Pisador, Fuenllana, and Daça – including examples of the many forms used in the tablature books ... The Preface, in Italian and English, provides useful background on the composers, the forms, the notation, and the tempos. This is a very nice compilation, and I would hope that it might spur more players to examine and perform some of this most excellent repertoire. (David Grimes)
