... The Potpourri Op.30 makes an attractive duo for cello and guitar. About 30 minutes in length, it has fivemovements (mostly in A major): Adagio & Rundtanz; Minuetto & Trio; Adagio; Polacca; Theme & Variations on Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”. Single movements would be an attractive addition to a recital program. The agreeable melodic material is predominantly given to the cello, with the guitar taking the accompanying chords and figures. The writing is well suited to the cello, with many lovely cantabile themes, and decorative figures using the full range of the instrument. This publication has a score and separate parts for both guitar and for cello. The parts are well spaced and clear, with bowings and editors suggestions marked. (Catherine Milligan)
