Vittorio Mezza is a pianist, composer, arranger and music professor.
After having completed his studies in classical music, he got his Diploma and Bachelor “cum laude” in Jazz Music from the “S. Cecilia” Conservatory of Music in Rome. He studied with international musicians like Dave Liebman, John Taylor, Franco D’Andrea, David Sanborn and others.
He opened the concerts for the Wayne Shorter Quartet, the Peter Erskine Trio and the Mike Stern’s Band. He performed in Germany, France, USA, Canada, Africa. He was the only Italian pianist to compete in the Montreux Jazz Piano Solo Competition 2005. On the occasion of the Italian Jazz Music Referendum held by Top Jazz he was selected in the category “Best New Italian Talents 2006”. His albums are broadcasted by radios worldwide and also have been selected by Alitalia Airline.
For a decade he collaborated with RAI Radio Televisione Italiana.
As a music professor he teached at the Conservatories of Reggio Calabria, Bologna, Perugia, Verona and L’Aquila.
His new recording projects "MMEQ" - quartet recorded in Germany with saxophonist David Milzow - and "Convergence" - with Australian saxophonist Mark Ginsburg -, both intended to the international market, are forthcoming.
His new CD "Napoli Jazz Songs", recorded in Canada with the VM Canadian Trio, published by Abeat Records, was presented at La Feltrinelli Bookstores and distributed worldwide.
He currently teaches Jazz Piano at the "L. Refice" Conservatory in Frosinone.
