Andrea Orsi studied Guitar with Enrico Tagliavini at the Conservatorio G.B. Martini in Bologna, where he graduated with full marks. He then focused on Composition studies with Cesare Augusto Grandi.
He attended masterclasses on Guitar performance held by John Williams and Alirio Diaz, and by Salvatore Sciarrino and Gyorgy Ligeti as for what concerns Composition studies.
In Bologna he participated to the forming of Octandre (an ensemble performing 20th century music), getting in touch with some of the leading figures of contemporary music, as Franco Donatoni and Goffredo Petrassi.
He has been teaching at conservatory since 1984. Since 1991, he has taught Guitar performance at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Vecchi-Tonelli” of Modena-Carpi.
Since a few years, he has devoted himself to soundtrack composition for various events, using digital devices and combining computer music with live performance, in particular for theatrical texts.
