The preface by Michael Treder, who is also responsible for the editing of the partita, informs us Kalivoda was from Prague, and this Partita by his hand comes from the so-called Buenos Aires manuscript. Having just played through music by the great Couperin and Weiss, Kalivoda’s music appears a little dull, but this is not fair, as it has attractive melodic qualities and certainly deserves its place in this fine series by Ut Orpheus ...
