In Giuseppe Maria Cambini’s vast production of chamber music, the result of an astonishing ease of writing, we find a large number of compositions which involve the use of the transverse flute.
The collection called “Six Trios pour flûte, violon et violoncelle” is made up of six trios each divided into two movements. This edition is based on the original edition printed in Paris, presumably in 1790, with the wording “Sieber Musicien rue St. Honoré vis à vis l’Hotel D’Aligre chez l’Apothicaire n. 92”, held in Paris at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Fonds Ancien, in separate parts.
