... These interesting pieces make useful sight-reading for string players at 3rd to 4th grade AMEB level. Contrapuntal and mostly canonic, the keys are simple but the time signatures vary a great deal. No.22 includes many breves reminding one of the Barber Adagio. With no tempo markings or bowings, the student would gain much from working out bowings and fingerings.
