Born in 1963 in Ravenna (Italy), Caterina Calderoni got the diploma in piano under the guidance of the Argentinian pianist Daniel Rivera, and in composition with the Italian composer Bruno Bettinelli. She mastered composition with Franco Donatoni and attended classes in musical informatics at Ircam in Paris and Agon Studio in Milan. She has composed soundtracks for TV programs commissioned by Rai and worked at multimedial projects. She won the first prize of the Ist Composition Contest for Film Music announced by Ennio Morricone at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and was finalist in international composition contests such as Alea III in Boston and Women Composers in Venice. As a pianist, she devotes herself to the Lieder literature of the XIX century. She is professor in composition at the Conservatory G. Nicolini of Piacenza, Italy, and lives in Milan.
