Recently his name become well-known for “Koji Ueno and His Orchestra” (formerly known as “Ueno Koji Ensemble”) with ingenious arrangements that incorporate the style of classical music and jazz, a unique concert with images accompanying right along, a TV commercial song “Tarako, Tarako, Tarako” composed by him, and so forth.
Ueno lectures on Film Music at the Cinema Department, College of Art of Nihon University.
The Recorder Magazine (Autumn 2014)
Koji Ueno was asked to write this quartet for recorders by Seiko Tanaka and Daniele Bragetti. On accepting the commission, Ueno decided to consider baroque music as a starting point, and elements of fugue can be identified in the outer movements, whilst the central Andante is titled 'English Pastoral'. ... this is a serious quartet which will reward higher level players who are willing to rehearse it sufficiently. My quartet certainly relished the challenge Quartetto Pastorale presented and thoroughly enjoyed the end product achieved. (Adam J Dopadlik)
