Gabriele Caselli (*1980)

Gabriele Caselli, born in Pisa, graduated in Piano with full marks at the “L. Boccherini” Institute in Lucca, obtained a second level degree in Composition under the guidance of Alberto Ezio Colla at the “L. Canepa” Conservatory of Sassari. He attended the postgraduate course in Composition at the Fiesole Music School held by Fabio Vacchi, and the 2nd level master in Composition at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, meeting composers such as George Benjamin, Unsuk Chin, Marco Stroppa, Klaus Lang, Alberto Posadas, Alessandro Solbiati. He also attended the Applied Music course at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena held by Luis Bacalov (La regina degli scacchi, Il Postino, Django Unchained).
In 2019 he won the International Competition for Sacred Music Composition “Anima Mundi”, the second prize ex aequo at the third International Composition Competition “Dante Moro”, the third prize at the sixth International Piano Composition Competition “City of Albenga”. He won the second mention at the 12th International Composition Competition for Classical Guitar “Michele Pittaluga” in 2020, and the third prize at the International Composition Competition of the Vienna Conservatory “Franz Schubert” in 2021.
His compositions have been performed by: Russian State Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Mikrokosmos Bruxelles, Syntax Ensemble, Azerbaijani National Orchestra, Rohan de Saram, Costanzo Porta Choir and Ensemble Cremona Antiqua, Dolomiti Symphonia, the contemporary music group Spazio musica and others.
