Claudio Ferrarini was born in Zurich, where he started his music studies. He then continued studying music all over Europe. His teachers include Moyse, Gazzelloni, Nicolet, Klemm, Schulz, Vegh and Stockhausen.
His discography is made up of more than one hundred CDs for Philips, Universal Music, Warner, Fonit Cetra, Europa Musica, Frequenz, Stradivarius, Ozella Music, Koch, Mondo Musica, CNI, Aulia, and has won important awards from international critics, such as the Globe of the American Records Guide (nine times).
He has sold more than 350,000 CDs, and he is one of the most popular European flutists on iTunes, with 60 CDs.
He is professor of Flute and of the two-year course for the Postgraduate Diploma in Solo Flute at the A. Boito Conservatory of Parma.

Les oeuvres de J.S. Bach pour le violon sont incontestablement des sommets du baroque allemand pour cet instrument. La chaconne est elle même une de ces pages les plus étourdissantes, les plus virtuoses ayant élevé et fait évoluer l’art du violon. Cette pièce totalement violinistique devient elle par cette transcription une gageure flûtistique?

Certamente ci voleva un concertista coraggioso come Claudio Ferrarini, ben noto al "popolo" flautistico, per affrontare la trascrizione della celeberrima "Ciaccona" per violino solo di Bach! ... ogni flautista proverà un'immensa soddisfazione a ripercorrere il grande classico violinistico ... Indipendentemente dunque dal traguardo di una esecuzione concertistica del brano, il solo "studiare" questo grande classico sarà di grande utilità per qualunque flautista, studente o professionista. ... Ferrarini ha lanciato una sfida ai flautisti, speriamo che sappiano raccoglierla (con lo studio, la tenacia, e la voglia di migliorarsi) tutti i coraggiosi strumentisti di oggi!
