Catalogo per AutoriBorn in Wheeling, West Virginia (USA), John Alan Rose has been performing as pianist and composer since the age of 14. Acclaimed European pianist Andreas Haefliger once played from John’s sketchbook and was so taken with his music that he predicted his future as a composer/performer. John received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana University. He performed the world premiere of his piano trio “Buson’s Ballet” at Merkin Hall in New York City, played twice his own music in winners concerts at Carnegie Hall and received prizes in international piano competitions as both pianist and composer. He won his second recording contract with ERM Media for their 2008 “Made in the Americas” project under the Naxos label. In 2007 he won a place on their “Music of the New Era” recording project, released in 2008, with his chamber piece “Joy Suite” for violin and piano. Rose was commissioned to compose incidental music for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival Theater in Stratford, Connecticut. With his wife Singah Lee-Rose – soprano – he performs regularly in concert together. John Alan Rose is also a long-standing and experienced music pedagogue. Leading British pianist Stephen Hough as well as Frederic Chiu, Andras Haefliger and Gayle Martin-Henry have praised his works.
